Fountain studies is a series of works and research I have been creating and collecting since 2019. It is a meditation on the fountain as object that is both passive and active, illusory and concrete,  whose utility is ambiguously poised between frivolity and function. As the fountain regurgitates a steady stream of water repeatedly over time, it defies the distinction between the still and the moving.  The fountain, like animation and film at 24 frames a second, is simultaneously static and active.  The still with its sense of pastness and death, is held in tandem with vitality and life for a moment’s reverie.
