Donkey Notes

Donkey Notes is a fantasy documentary about Michael Taussig and his writings about the donkey. Exploring the tropes and mythologies surrounding the creature, whilst simultaneously illuminating Michael Taussig’s history and visions. His own childhood escapades in the suburbs of Sydney, Australia his voyages as a ship's doctor on a boat bringing apples from Tasmania to England, and his time spent in western Colombia learning about subsistence farming, yage, shamanism and sorcery- the common thread being the donkey that miraculously interweaves itself through literature, art and its labor throughout. Directed by Olivia Taussig, animated by Olivia Taussig and Aimee Goguen.
